blah blah blah

I don't know why I'm even posting. I have nothing to say. Despite that, I bet this might turn out to be a pretty long post. I babysat today. Last night we got home pretty late from my great-grandma's house, just hanging out, planning the funeral some. So I went to bed in ten minutes, which is record time, mostly because I did nothing thouroughly. I forgot to set my alarm to wake me up at 7 this morning to babysit. Fortunately the Dad Alarm came through, and he gave me a ride over too. It was kind of a long day. Not too bad though. It was the S's, four kids. But it only gets crazy when they're all four doing something like playing outside that I have to be watching all four of them. Today was mostly restful. Which was good. I couldn't've handled wild today! I'm tired. =O and hungry. I haven't eaten anything besides munchies since 10. I never eat all that much when I'm babysitting. I used to just skip lunch, but since I'm babysitting so often I can't do that. So I eat a bowl of cereal. I love cereal! Rock on cereal lovers!!!!

LT is in three weeks and 3 days. Wow. Whoohoo! Yay! Hallelujah chorus!

I'm sleepy. Abby hasn't been home all day. I'm really sleepy. wow. uh.

Can I add your blog or website to my links list?

Well can I?

Sun, cornstarch, and a bonfire in June

This is gonna be one major post, so hang tight everybody.

Ok. So yesterday we went to church early because Dad did the music, so they had to practice. This also meant that we had to stay for both services, which we did anyway because I had a fundraiser afterwards. So the first service I sat with my family and the second with my friends. Actually I went down to the nursery to see if they needed any help, but there were three kids and three workers, so they were fine.

After church we had a fundraiser. This was the fundraiser where we bring a lunch and go to Cleveland to hang door flyers. It, was so, hot. This was from 1:45 to 3:45, pretty much the hottest part of the day. Fortunately the neighborhood was a lot smaller than it looked on the map, so it was only 2 hours instead of three, because we ran out of flyers. And the streets were short, so we got picked up by our roving red van pretty often, to get water and cool off a bit. It was so hot I thought I was going to get heat stroke or something. But I was well protected by a hat, sunglasses, and SPF 50. I don't even have a tan from yesterday.

After the fundraiser, we went to swift's house for a bonfire. Uh huh. But it was pretty far away from the food and people, so it wasn't bad at all. Except when we were roasting our hot dogs, marshmallow, pie thingys (correct me on that one) and ourselves. We had a water balloon fight, which took about 2 minutes, a water balloon fight, which took about half that--B got soaked. She was mad as a wet hen for about 10 minutes. We played a game where you hold a bat up in the air instead of on the ground, and look at it, and spin 30 times, run over to these 9x13 pans of cornstarch and water. It was the weirdest stuff. It was white and hard if you pushed hard and soft if you just let your hands sink into it. You had to find a penny or 2 paperclips and run back to tag the next person. When it was my turn, swift yelled, "spin faster, you're a dancer" (at least I think it was swift, I didn't really have my wits about me at the time). Swift, dancers spot. That means you look at a spot on a wall, not up in the air. But I did think, "oh yeah, I am a dancer. I can keep my feet under me." And then I tried to run to the right, because I could tell I was veering to the left. I think I ran pretty straight. It took me forever to find a penny though.

Then we just stood around and talked. Kristin, the person who is taking us girls to LT, was there. She brought iluvccrunners. It was a fun day.

Then I was sooooooooo tired. When I didn't have all these people around me talking and moving I was soooooooooooooooooo tired. So I told my family about my day, they told me about their day, and we went to bed.

Then ---ok, I need to stop it with the then thing! Sheesh! The phone rang with news that my great grandma passed away that evening, so this week is going to be insaner than it was going to be anyway. She was 85 and 10 months or so. It was really good timing, though, because someone in the family is going to be gone at some time from the second week of July to about the second week of August. Prayer needed, especially for my grandma. As far as I know. And that things go smoothly and everyone trusts God to work things out if they don't. We're singing at the funeral. Here goes.

See what I mean about a major post? I think I can probably go through the whole rainbow. We'll see. I hope no one wears black at my funeral. I'd rather have bright colors. Obviously.

YAY!

I just had to post that I am excited and proud of myself to announce that I have now, after much travail, added ZOEgirl's website to my links list!!! Yay! Everybody check it out and don't even bother to look at anything until after (or while) you listen to the song clips! I love these songs! They all fit me so well, it's awesome! (Except for maybe Scream. But it's a sweet song anyway.) Or if they don't exactly fit me, they encourage me to make them fit! So ya! Yay! EXCLAMATION POINT PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lazy day

I got home from the sleepover at about, uh, like, 8:45. It was really fun. We swam and talked and talked and talked and ate lots of candy. Then I played the guitar and had a qt (quiet time, for all those not associated with my abbre.), and played the guitar some more, and played spit with Abby, and ate lunch. Oh, and I figured out how to play some of the ZOEgirl songs on la guitarra. That was fun.

So...comment about the first thing that comes to your head. Trivial or profound. Laugh or cry. I know somebody's is going to be "Hunh? I don't know what to write! How am I supposed to figure out what the first thing I thought of was?" so skip that and think of something else!!!

Today

My family went to waterworks with bruce and soni's family. It was very fun. I went on the slides and the lazy river most of the time. I got a tiny bit of tan, which was good, or when I go to LT I'll fry.

I also met two new people over blogs today, Andrew and Yossii. It's cool how you can communicate with your friends and family and meet people at the same time. Can't wait to hear back from them.

I am extremely tired and am planning on going to bed early tonight, as oppose to trying to sleep in, which is impossible to do in a room with bright yellow walls and a window facing east. People always ask, when they hear I have bright yellow walls, how I go to sleep at night. It's dark! It doesn't matter. In the morning, now then it's hard to sleep.

Ohhhhh!!! And I got my new ZOEgirl CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy! They're my favorite group because they have sweet lyrics and sweet music. Really encouraging lyrics. And Rockin awesome music!!!! Like this one song, Let it out, I was jumping up and down even though exhausted. I was practically caffeinated! Which I t h i n k is spelled right...? You can go to zoegirlonline.com to hear clips of all the songs. It's really a group with a girl audience, but that doesn't mean you guys can't like it.

Ok. I'm going to go convince everyone to go to bed. After I do the compu more.
oh, also I want to go to bed early cuz the girl's group's having an overnighter. (Which I hope iluvccrunners is ok with. :) )
Night all, lylas.

Copied from an e-mail which best sums up my week:

You might want to skim this even if you read the e-mail, cuz I added some stuff.
I just finished a 4 day week of babysitting which was actually a lot of fun. I wasn't bored, which is what makes it feel like forever. The first family had a semi-sick kid (who threw up within the first two hours of my summer babysitting career, and then was just fine the rest of the time) and the second family has a new puppy--who is ADORABLE but quite a handful. She's not totally housebroken so you have to watch her every second.

We also had VBS (vacation bible school) at our church all week. I helped with crafts. It was a lot of fun. I'm just surprised I'm not totally exhausted. Actually, I am physically exhausted, but as far as internal...(what's the words I'm looking for...)emotion and energy, I'm still going strong, hallelujah :-). If you don't like kids, you do NOT want to be me. If you love kids, you want to be me. I want to be me, lol. Mom says I should be a child pyschologist after babysitting a fussy 4 yr old two days in a row.

And tonight I'm going to be up past midnight helping with an LT fundraiser. (28 days! [and 7 hours and 42 minutes]. I got a countdown-er from mugglenet.com, which is actually counting down to the release of the 6th book, which just happens to be on the same day as LT starts).

I think I'll go take a nap. Or update my blog. Or just copy this e-mail onto my blog. Or go take a nap.

Love yall!
Katie

Oh, ps, I can't forget my free day: We went shopping all day yesterday, Abby, Mom and I. Hannah was at a friend's house and was just as happy to be there. She doesn't like shopping as much as we do. I got two shirts, a cute tie belt, a new purse that I might actually use because it's cute and small, nail polish, and....uh, oh yeah, Abby and I bought two necklaces made out of, like, stone-like beads. We're splitting them. That was fun. We went to the mall first, where abby and I got nail polish (for a 1.50) and then we decided we'd rather go to the thrift store where we could actually buy the cute stuff we found. So that's where I got all the other stuff. Very fun.

About personality testing:
The only kind of personality testing we've done wasn't actually a test. It was a video about the different personalities. It had choleric(always the leader) phlegmatic (never the leader, really laid back) sanguine (think uncle Jeff (dad to me) and Abby--social butterfly, can't stop talking) and melancholy (very neat and tidy, introspective). Most people aren't only one, but mixes of them. Hannah's a melancholy-plegmatic, Mom's a melancholy choleric, Dad's a sanguine phlegmatic, and Abby's a sanguine choleric, to the best of my reconking. (or reckoning. I'm so tired. lol!) Nobldy can figure out what I am. I think I'm mostly whatever the people around me aren't. If someone else will take the lead, I'll follow them, but if nobody's taking control, I'll be happy to.

Today:

Last night when we went bowling I played the best game of my life and the worst game of my life. We played two games, in case you’re confused. The first game I got 113, and the second game I got 78. The first game I got 3 spares in a row. The second game I didn’t get any. But Gretchen and Abby both got two strikes in a row the second game. So Abby beat us all with 133. I’m sure there are millions of exclamation points on her blog. After we bowled we came home to Meme and Pops’ house and watched Princess Bride and ate our pizza. The guys watched star wars. Princess Bride is hilarious. If you haven’t seen it, you absolutely must.

This morning we walked the reservoir. It’s nice and breezy, except for the stretch that we had our backs to the wind, which was really hot. Pops says it’s 3.8 miles around. We told a story about Lu Chao and his sister Shang Li. We each told a bit. It was interesting what everyone came up with.

This afternoon we’re going to see the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. Abby’s read the book and I want to. I’m sleepy. Walking 3.8 miles will do that to you.

(Right now my toenails are pinky-salmon with a dark purple dot in the middle. They look like eyes, so I tried adding eyelashes to the ends of my toes, but I think you need to be able to see the ends for them to look like eyelashes. So they look like stripes. I have ten Cyclops on the ends of my feet.)

Horseback riding and swimming

Yesterday we went horseback riding and swimming in our grandparent's friend's pond. It was fun. But tiring, I didn't realize how out of shape I was in regard to swimming. I mostly hung on the ladder and relaxed and watched out for rabid fish. They bite us some times. It's funny. Pops went fishing while we swam, so he wasn't bored. Today my sisters and Pops are leaving again to go to the pond, but this time Hannah's going to fish. I'm too stiff from horseback riding to swim, and I'm not much of a fishergirl.

It's become a tradition that every year when we come to Meme and Pops' house, we go horse back riding with the M girls, Lindsay and Gretchen, and go out to eat afterwards at El Azteca. That's what we did yesterday. My horse's name was Snickers. I was the very last one. (I'm always the very last one!). Abby was in front of me (am I sensing a pattern? last year Abby was in front of me!) and Hannah was in front of her. Hannah's horse was slow. So was mine. Snickers did whatever Caleb (hannnah's horse) did. When Caleb stopped to eat, snickers stopped to eat. Caleb was slow, and Snickers was slow. The horses really don't listen to you, they just follow the horse in front of them, so when Caleb got so slow that the others got around a U turn in the path and Caleb was still on the other side, he took a shortcut straight through the U. Right under a tree. So Hannah had to duck and do some tricky steering. And, of course, then Abby's and my horse followed Caleb. Aiee. But other than that it was fun.

Tonight we're going bowling with all 6 of the M kids, and getting pizza, so that will be fun. Pops and Hannah are going to cream us all, as usual. Some things never change...

This morning I slept in until 9:15. Whoohoo! We watched Aladdin while I ate breakfast.
We kinda missed that Disney classic when we were younger. It was very funny. I remembered parts of it, but I don't remember ever watching it all the way through. I certainly didn't remember how it ended. Supergurl101, if I have my facts straight, says Aladdin should be rated NC-17, so whenever it got scary we told Abby "You can close your eyes if you want, this is an NC-17 moment."

Our vacation is half over already! Pretty soon it'll be on to VBS and babysitting. Can't wait. Lo va a esta muy ...fun. Which I think possibly means it's going to be fun. *shrug*

What I did on my FIFTEEN AND A HALF-TH birthday

LOL I don't really care all that much except that it is my fifteenth and a half-th birthday. Which I find funny.

This morning we went to the Air Force Museum in Fairbourne. It was pretty neat. We had our very own grandpa tour guide. He knows a lot about planes and stories and history. We saw models of the Fat Man and Little Boy atomic bombs and old planes and new planes and watched as we went throught the museum the speeds went faster and faster and the range went farther and farther and the horsepower went up and up until they stopped using horsepower. It was pretty cool. Wait, I already said that. Sheesh, Katie. Use some new cliches every now and then!

Oh, and before we went to the AF museum we went to Bob Evan's for brekkers. And last night we did go and get milkshakes and the black raspberry milkshakes were **** and they actually had seeds and black raspberry bits. We watched the Andy Griffith Show and I love lucy, and we're about to eat bbq porkchops so I got to go. Which is ungrammatical but I would say it in real life, so whatever.

6.06.2005

Vacation...ahhhh.

I am posting from my grandma and grandpa (Meme and Pops) 's house. That didn't make sense, technically, but yall know what I mean.

We have all kinds of fun things planned. We just finished a marvelous dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, carrots, bread with Meme's strawberry Jam, and fruit salad. Topped off with chocolate candies.

We're planning on watching I Love Lucy and the Andy Griffith show tonight, and I think also going to "Buds" for milkshakes. Pops says they have **** milkshakes.

Tomorrow we're going to the Air force museum, wednesday we're going horseback riding, thursday we're going bowling, and friday I think we might go swimming. Then Saturday we're heading home to embark once again on the madness of life. LOL. VBS and babysitting. I hope I won't be too tired from babysitting to do a good job helping with crafts.

Today we got out the Mule. Next time we do pictures I'll put up a pic of the Mule. I think doryack might have one. It's basically a golfcart with a bed for carrying sticks, etc. Or me. We each got to drive it around with everybody and once all by ourselves. (There is a chipmunk that sits impertinently on the head of a large concrete goose right outside the kitchen window. During our ride we nicknamed him the Chipper Monkey.) Before dinner Pops took us for a drive in the woods and we saw the ugliest spider we've ever seen. It was white, but it was built like the hairy black ones. He was building a web on the Mule. Hannah and I were too chicken to brush him off, and Abby was too far away (which I think is the reason she was willing to brush him off--He wasn't going to fall on top of her!)

On the way here we listened to a dramatization of Anne of Green Gables. It didn't have anything but dialouge. She's so zany! "even though what I said was true too, I shouldn't have said it."

I looked back at the post I did when Grandma Theresa came and I said I might go back to bed because I couldn't see myself getting through the rest of the day in such an advanced state of stupor. Just watch me. I've been up till 11 for about three nights in a row. It seems like a lot longer. In fact, I'm in such an advanced state of stupor that after dinner I tried to drain the rest of my water from my mug and spilled it all down my front. Missed my mouth entirely. It's all dry now. *SHAKE HEAD*. Katie, Katie. I should be able to go to bed at a very decent hour here, though. I need to catch back up before I start getting up at 7 or 7:30 to babysit. I told Hannah after our mule drive "Ask me how I'm doing." "How are you doing?" "Besides suffering from arachnaphobia and severe sleep deprivation: smashing, just smashing!"

The Dance Recital

Well, I did it. More or less. I didn't have anything in the first half. But it went pretty fast. I think I overthought my "thieves" dance. I messed up more than I have for about a billion classes. And I did better on the one I did with Hannah's class than I did on that one!

It was a blur.

A complete blur.

Variety Show

WE SO TOTALLY ROCKED!!!

The only things I felt we didn't rock at were the things we had practiced the least: like Beautiful One. Apparently I was supposed to plug the guitar in. *Shrug*

BUT THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS ARE FOR WAS SO TOTALLY SAHWEET!!!!

And what I saw of the movie was cool. I didn't see much, but I bet the rest was too. I just wish we could've caught James doing the Olivia Oscar strut. It would've been an excellent blooper shot.

Yall did an AWESOME JOB! I'm so proud of everyone!

I had a ton of fun doing Mine all Mine. I just loved being cruel and heartless. LOL.

And the solo went ok, I think. I sang, "If we are the Body" which is a terrific song. The high and low notes were a little off. I didn't mess up the words, though! LOL.

I haven't watched Seize the Day. I don't think I want to. I'm afraid my big "I'm gonna seize the day..." moment will be corny, and I don't really want to know if it is or not.

And then we went out for ice cream at Stricklands (courtesy of James. It's contagious.)
I had reeses cup ice cream. Yummmm!

In closing...

Vic Tom Young was a young and prosperous man...

...AT the lion's cage.

Concerning a recent quiz E-mail...

I have thought of two answers that I'd like to change. One was if you could have any hair color, what would it be. I said bleach blonde with pink tips. But I don't think it would look good on me. I don't know. Usually when my hair turns blonde my face turns brown, cuz I'm out in th sun, but I don't know what I would look like with blonde hair and a white/not-tan face. But that was the first thing I thought of. I would like to have some crazy color in my hair--lol. Right now I confine the crazy colors to my nails. And yes, they are CRAZY.I mean, look at the colors I always format my posts in. And look at my room. And look at my desktop. And look in my clothes drawers.

The other was what is your biggest fear, and I said I had no idea, which, I didn't. But I think my biggest fear is probably being disappointed, so I don't get my hopes too high. About most things. But I think when you have the right perspective, you don't get disappointed even if it goes badly. Take, for instance, the variety show tonight. If I'm all worried about performing well and having lots of people come, then I could be disappointed. But if my focus is on glorifying God and having fun, then I won't be disappointed even if we only perform for our families and my voice goes off key and I forget my lines. OK, so I probably would be a little disappointed, but it wouldn't matter so much.

YO WAZZUP COME TO THE VARIETY SHOW. Not that it really matters if I shout at you to come, because half of you would have to leave now on a plane to get here in time, and the other half are going to be there anyway. LOL
